Do you find yourself saying “ I want to feel like myself again”, but don’t know how? Are you overwhelmed? Do you find it hard to take care of yourself because you are always taking care of others? Is it difficult to relax because your mind is always racing?
My approach
I practice a client-centered philosophy, often utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I believe counseling is a collaborative process built upon a solid therapeutic relationship. My goal is for clients to see our sessions as a safe, non-judgmental space where they can rediscover the strengths, skills, and tools necessary to navigate life's challenges.
My focus
I am passionate about helping those struggling with anxiety, depression, social anxiety, anger management, and low self-esteem. I strive to ensure that sessions are a safe nonjudgemental space where you can rediscover the strengths, skills, and tools needed to navigate the challenges life can bring. I look forward to helping you find peace and balance in your life.
My communication style
My communication style is culturally sensitive, compassionate, person-centered, solution-focused and strengths-based. I aim to create a warm, supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was drawn to the mental health field through my desire to help others overcome challenges and live fulfilling lives. After earning my Bachelor's in Social Work from Albany State University, I obtained my Master's in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University. Over the past 15 years, I've had the opportunity to work in diverse settings including acute psychiatric hospitals with children and adolescents, group homes, nursing homes, youth detention centers, and the Department of Corrections.
My goals for you
My goal is to help you gain insight and self-awareness, develop practical coping strategies, improve your relationships and communication, boost your self-esteem, and ultimately enhance your overall well-being and life satisfaction. I aim to empower you with the tools and support needed to overcome obstacles and make lasting positive changes.
My first session with you
During our first session, we'll discuss what brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I'll ask about your background, current situation, symptoms, and struggles. We'll begin building our therapeutic relationship and discuss my approach. My aim is to make you feel at ease, heard, and supported from the very beginning. We'll work together to develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.
