Hi there, I'm Stacey!

Hi there, I'm Stacey Monroe, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of clinical experience. Over the years, I've worked with diverse populations in multiple settings, including medical social work, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), community mental health, homeless services, and private practice.

My approach

As a unique individual, you deserve an approach that is tailored to your needs. While I take an eclectic approach to therapy, I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you develop tools for success.

My focus

I enjoy working with those living with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, work stress, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ issues, and more.

My communication style

I prioritize offering a comfortable and engaging space for you to process your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I view therapy as a partnership between two experts: You as the expert on yourself, and myself as the expert in mental health. My hope is that therapy will feel like a conversation where you leave with new insights, a sense of connection with yourself, practical tools, and clarity on how to use them in your daily life.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist actually began with my love for animals. I was on the path to becoming a veterinarian when I realized that I felt fulfillment in comforting owners whose pets had received a difficult diagnosis--I embrace discussions around challenging emotions. I shifted from biology classes to psychology and social work classes, and I felt all of the proverbial puzzle pieces "click." I find great joy in sharing both the highs and lows with my clients, and it is always an honor to be on this journey with them.

My goals for you

Goal-setting is like creating a roadmap. After determining what you'd like to accomplish with our time together, we can talk about the best way to get there through various strategies and tools for improvement. As you experience growth, we will discuss lasting lifestyle changes and healthy habits to support your most authentic and balanced self.

My first session with you

When we first meet, you can expect to tell me your story. I'll ask you a lot of questions about your past and present, and then we will focus on identifying your goals. The quest for understanding how we got to where we are often reveals this "roadmap" to where and who we want to be. I look forward to walking with you on this journey to achieve well-being.
