As a 3rd generation social services worker, I often joke that I was born into this field. I cannot imagine myself in any other profession. This is all I have ever wanted to do. With that being said, I was also born into a society that often refuses to accept the necessity for therapy, especially for men and people of color.
My approach
My approach is shaped by nearly 20 years of diverse experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors across various settings, including intensive outpatient, high acuity inpatient, the Department of Corrections, and with DCFS. This blend of experiences has helped me form an approach that I believe benefits everyone regardless of their situation.
My focus
I am experienced in working with individuals, couples, and families. My specialties include addiction, ADHD, aging, alcohol use, anger management, antisocial personality, anxiety, autism or Asperger's syndrome, bipolar disorder, behavioral issues, borderline personality, career counseling, chronic illness, coping skills, cultural stress, depression, dual diagnosis, developmental disorders, life coaching, trauma and PTSD.
My communication style
I live my life by a quote from the Dalai Lama: "With realization of one's own potential and self-confidence in one's ability, one can change the world." I believe that people often already possess the ability to change their life for the better, sometimes they just need someone to help them discover that ability. That's where I come in as your guide and support.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a 3rd generation social services worker, this field has always been my calling. I cannot imagine myself in any other profession. Driven by a passion to make therapy accessible to all, especially for men and people of color, I aim to dispel the bias and stigma surrounding seeking help for mental health issues.
My goals for you
My goal is to help you realize your own potential and build self-confidence in your ability to create positive change in your life. Together, we will work to uncover the strengths and skills you already possess to overcome challenges and improve your mental well-being.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will focus on understanding your unique situation, needs and goals. I will provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to share your story and concerns. We'll discuss my approach and how we can best work together to support your journey towards improved mental health and overall well-being. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
