Hi there, I'm Amanda!

Hey there! My name is Amanda Grippi. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 20 years of experience. I am passionate about helping people reach their goals, whatever that may be. Sometimes starting therapy can be a little intimidating but I want you to know that you can just be yourself! My clients tell me that they appreciate that I am down-to-Earth and work as a team player, not an authority figure. I have experience working with all ages from preschool through adulthood and enjoy them all.

My approach

The tools I use come from many different approaches to therapy because there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. I listen to what clients hope to gain from therapy and then use the strategies that match their needs. That being said, I am always client-centered, empathetic, and open-minded. I am solution-focused as much as possible so that clients have practical ways to solve some of their problems. I am a trauma-informed therapist and trained in EMDR. I also commonly use strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Gottman techniques.

My focus

All types of clients are welcome though I have a special interest in working with people on the Autism spectrum. I am also a culturally competent therapist with specific experience working with people in the LGBTQIA+ community. I am Cuban and American so many clients appreciate that I personally understand multicultural issues. I also work with many individuals who are struggling with anxiety, and depression or are just trying to get through the struggles of day-to-day life.

My communication style

First and foremost, I try to convey that I am a safe person to be yourself with. I bring my authentic self to therapy as well, rather than putting on what some might view as a therapist persona. I want my clients to know they can do the same. My clients also tell me that they appreciate that I am down-to-Earth and open-minded and don't just tell them what I think they need to do.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a therapist because I have always had a heart for helping people and I found that people seemed drawn to me in order to share their stories. I also have a passion for serving underserved and marginalized populations.

My goals for you

I fully believe that therapy is a collaborative process. I will help you articulate what your goals are, not tell you what they should be; and I will help you find solutions that work for you, not just what works for others. We create goals to help us both have an idea of where we want to go and keep track if we are doing what we set out to do. Goals sometimes change as therapy progresses and we find that there are new priorities. My goal is to make sure that you get what you want out of therapy.

My first session with you

Our first session is just a chance to get to know each other. It's a safe space for you to discuss why you're seeking therapy and to begin to set what specific goals you have for therapy.
