Hello. My name is Daffaney Burnside. I am a licensed clinical therapist (LCSW). I am very passionate about counseling and supporting people in their clinical journey to create a healthier version of themselves.
My approach
I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among clients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings toward life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the client and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of stress, sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.
My focus
I specialize in helping individuals manage anxiety, depression, childhood-present traumas, and recent life adjustments: loss-grief, relationships, marriage, divorce, parenting, and stressors within employment, school environments, etc.
My communication style
My therapy style is warm and interactive. I meet my clients where they are using therapeutic approaches that will better meet their needs. I often use client-centered, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness therapeutic approaches in my practice.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a child, I always wanted to pursue a career where I could assist with an individual's growth, creativity, and happiness. I learned at a young age the struggles that life can bring, not only through the inevitable but also through situational traumas that we at times have to face and endure. Being an active member in the clinical field of helping professionals, I have certainly learned the importance of patience, empathy, and peace. Identifying and securing one's purpose in life creates the true masterpiece of one's story. My goal is to assist you in your journey to self-actualization.
My goals for you
My approach is very much so client-centered, meeting all my clients where they are.
My first session with you
Initial sessions include information gathering, goal planning, and rapport building. We also explore expectations for sessions.
