Hi there, I'm Maurissa!

Hi, I'm Maurissa Murakami and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I am very person-centered so I will follow your lead as it is your time and space. We will discuss what your goals for therapy are together in the first session.

My approach

I identify as an eclectic therapist because I use a few different types of therapies to provide you with person-centered care. I mainly use CBT with solution and strength-based focuses. I also help many people discover their healthy coping skills with DBT.

My focus

Since 2016, I have worked with those struggling with anger management, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and neurodiversity.

My communication style

I have been told that I create a calm and nurturing environment while also challenging clients to think outside of their comfort zone.

My journey to mental healthcare

When I was in high school, I was an aide for an elementary teacher and found that I liked talking to the kids about their interests more than teaching them math. Now, I work with people from ages 4 to 70 and found my passion to support others to meet their goals.

We will discuss your goals for therapy in the first session and review your goals about every 6 sessions.

As mentioned, we will discuss your goals. We will also talk about what brought you to counseling and discuss any questions or concerns you have.
