Hi there, I'm Benjamin!

Hi! My name is Ben Nguyen and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in Illinois. I have lived and worked around the Chicago land area for my entire life. I received my undergraduate education from the University of Illinois in Chicago and graduate studies at Roosevelt University where I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling and Applied Psychology. I have been in the mental health and behavioral health field for over a decade in various settings from public health, to non-profits, hospitals, and corrections. My approach to therapy is exploring and amplifying personal strengths as well as developing a balance in life. No life is not absent of struggles but struggles do not need to lead to suffering. I draw approaches from person-centered, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and dialectical therapies. I utilize a personalized approach by incorporating different styles that will tailor to each individual person. My role is to provide support, guidance, education, and even advice but ultimately the change and progress are rested in the individual's hands. My philosophy is not to work harder than the client but walk alongside them in this journey. Just like most things in life; what you get from therapy is equivalent to the amount of effort you put in. It's important to know that therapy is not an easy road, free of pain and tears, but at the end of that road is a stronger person despite going through such turmoil.
