Hello! My name is Kassandra Leber, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. As a mental health provider, I treat each individual and family as a unique entity and assist clients in developing plans to create lasting change in their lives.
My approach
I approach each new case as a blank slate and begin by getting to know each individual. From there, I help individuals discover their plans for growth. I work with a variety of theoretical approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and strength-based therapy.
My focus
I work with a wide range of ages (12+) with my primary focus being teens and young adults. I have experience treating a variety of conditions including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, ADHD, Phobias, PTSD & other trauma-related disorders, Family/Interpersonal Issues, Parenting Related Stress, Gender Dysmorphia, intimacy concerns, and more...
My communication style
I make it my goal to allow opportunities for my clients to feel as comfortable as possible while working through some of the most challenging times in life. I meet clients where they are at and support them every step of the way.
My journey to mental healthcare
For as long as I can remember, it has been my passion to help others. I was thankful to be able to work with a professional at the end of my adolescence who opened my eyes to the world of social work. I began my career working in the child welfare setting, helping to stabilize children's placements in foster homes. I had previous experience working in the community mental health setting and soon used that to transition my career into the private practice realm. Thanks to COVID-19 (one silver lining), I began taking my practice virtually after the 2020 pandemic lockdowns. I love the possibility of creating create change from the comfort of my home, and I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of my client's stories and help create a ripple effect to positive change in our society.
My goals for you
When goal setting with clients, I use a combination of clinical assessment and client input to determine the best goals and objectives to create change and improve the client's quality of life.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients can expect to review paperwork and the limits of confidentiality and client rights. From there, clients will partake in a clinical assessment to allow me to gain a better understanding of what factors are contributing to recent distress. Once I have a better understanding of the client and the client's situation, together, we create a plan to provide a path to change for the client and/or family. I typically end the first session with some skill-building to get clients started on building their coping skills.
