My private practice background has given me the pleasure of working with a variety of ages and diagnoses in both therapy and diagnostic evaluation. Common issues that I treat include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, intrusive thoughts, anger problems, codependency/personal boundary issues, and interpersonal distress. I have a special interest in parent-child relationships and hope to help parents improve overall family functioning and satisfaction through education and parent coaching.
My approach
I use warmth, safety, and a non-judgmental environment to help clients explore what is stressing them. I also employ a variety of evidence-based techniques and skills that will help clients to overcome their obstacles.
My focus
My ideal client is forthcoming about their struggles, open to feedback, and willing to try new ways of understanding and dealing with their problems.
My communication style
I am a patient listener and thoughtful in my feedback to clients. I use restatements to help validate feelings and ensure that I am understanding what my client is trying to convey.
My goals for you
As we work together, you will develop insight into your problems, build self-awareness of attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors, grow accountable to yourself, and learn to use coping skills that will be most effective for your symptoms.
My first session with you
During the first session, I will explain the HIPAA confidentiality agreement and then use a clinical interview to gather background information that will help me understand you better. Toward the end, we will discuss your treatment goals.
