My name is Raul Rodriguez, Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I believe that every person deserves a chance to be happy. Therapy for me is a way to learn how to voice what we need and to work towards it. I believe that my job involves helping people through difficult times and guiding them to feel better. I am a firm believer in cooperation in the therapeutic process. I mainly focus on Depression, Trauma, Anxiety, and PTSD in adults and teenagers.
My approach
I mainly focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy, but my work is also informed by CBT.
My focus
Most of my previous cases have had a combination of depression and anxiety. I am also treated many people with PTSD.
My communication style
I believe in starting where the patient is. I also think that I am able to provide patients with a comforting and calming environment to feel free to talk. The bond between patient and therapist develops over time and patience is key.
My journey to mental healthcare
In a way, I was always interested in psychology, but my journey to become a therapist started as a patient. Many years ago, I suffered severe anxiety and panic attacks. I know how it is to be on the other side, scared and lost. I want to help people get out of there just like my therapist and others helped me. I am learning every day and I learn from each patient.
My goals for you
Each client is different and will have different goals. Goals for me are something that has to be negotiated with each client when the client is ready for such goals. My job is to guide and assist, but the client is in charge.
My first session with you
During the first session, a client should expect my full attention and complete openness. I will listen to you and I will try to help you as best I can.
