My name is Ashley Nederveld, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I work with clients via telehealth throughout the state of Michigan. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and stress.
My approach
My approach to therapy is eclectic to meet the needs of each individual client. I believe each person is unique in their treatment journey and deserves a tailored treatment approach. I pull from multiple modalities, including strength-based, person-centered, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I believe my role is to join you in your journey to wellness.
My focus
I have found that my approach works well with individuals who are experiencing stress due to a period of life transitions. This may include going off to college, welcoming a new baby, job/career changes, setting boundaries, or retirement adjustments. I specifically have experience working with college students, perinatal mood disorders, infertility, and individuals in non-traditional relationship structures.
My communication style
I do my best to provide a safe and secure environment for all my clients. I find that this creates a space for clients to open up, discover themselves, and ultimately see change in their lives. I pride myself on being relatable and accommodating while offering a judgmental-free zone.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I believe in hope. I believe we all deserve to be our authentic selves, and I find fulfillment in assisting others in living their best life. Whether it is in the therapy room or volunteering in my community, I enjoy helping others discover their full potential.
My goals for you
When it comes to goals, I take the lead of my clients, creating goals that center around what they want to work on in their lives. We will work together to identify a course of treatment that best suits your needs and desires. I offer a safe space to explore your goals, offering you self-determination throughout the process.
My first session with you
Our first session together is a chance for us to build rapport and for me to understand where you are at. This includes discussing your current moods and emotions and starting to explore your journey to this point. We will also develop a rough roadmap for our treatment time together. You are unique, just as your treatment plan will be.
