Hi there, I'm Debra!

As a clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience, I have had the privilege of working with individuals, groups, and families facing diverse emotional and mental health challenges. My expertise spans across various settings, including residential and clinical environments for individuals with developmental disabilities, schools where I supported children and their families, and therapeutic spaces serving clients of all ages.

My approach

I bring a person-centered approach to my practice, tailoring my therapeutic style to meet the unique needs of each individual. My work is rooted in a strengths-based perspective, fostering a caring, compassionate, and empathetic environment that is central to facilitating growth and healing.

My focus

I specialize in supporting individuals navigating challenges related to autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, anger management, emotional regulation, behavioral issues, parenting, crisis prevention and de-escalation, development of coping skills, grief and loss, anxiety, and depression. I am committed to working with individuals and minors aged 13-17.

My communication style

Communication is key to a successful therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. Through open and honest dialogue, we will work together to identify goals, explore challenges, and celebrate successes along the way.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey in mental healthcare began with a deep-seated passion for helping others. This led me to pursue a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Siena College and a Master of Social Work from the University at Albany's School of Social Welfare. Over the past 25 years, I have had the honor of working with diverse populations across various settings, constantly driven by my commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of those I serve.

My goals for you

My ultimate goal is to empower you with the tools, insights, and support needed to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and resilience. Whether it's developing effective coping strategies, improving communication skills, or gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, I am here to guide you every step of the way. Together, we will work towards fostering a greater sense of self-awareness, personal growth, and overall well-being.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will take the time to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. I will listen attentively to your story, your concerns, and your hopes for therapy. We will collaboratively identify your goals and develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs and preferences. This initial session serves as an opportunity for you to ask questions, express any apprehensions, and get a sense of my therapeutic style to ensure that we are a good fit for working together.
