I worked for 15 years in a hospital providing individual/family/group psychotherapy. I had the privilege to work with patients from all over the world, from different backgrounds and age groups. My experience taught me that compassion, caring, and therapeutic alliance are the most important in the helping process, and those core values inform my practice. I specialize in helping people with mood disorders, anxiety, life transitions, and grief. I love to work with immigrant clients and have a lot of experience with this population, especially with Russian-speaking clients. I am fluent in the Russian language 2)What was my path to becoming a social worker -150 words Becoming a therapist is my second career. Initially, I worked in Computer Programming. However, I did not find it fulfilling. I was always interested in psychology and human behaviors, and this interest inspired me to change my profession. It took me some time and soul-searching to realize that my true calling is to help people to heal, assist with self-growth and improve the quality of their lives. I decided to become a social worker and never looked back. I acquired a social work degree from Fordham University and embarked on my 15 years career as a therapist working in various roles at the hospital clinic. Currently, I am very excited to open my own private practice providing high-quality care using telehealth platforms. What someone should know about working with me. I will make you feel comfortable and safe to explore and share your inner struggles, aspirations, and what you expect from therapy. We collaborate and come up with a treatment plan together based on your needs and preferences. I believe that a client is an expert in his/her/their own life, and I am just a "navigator." What do I do to continue learning and building my competencies as a provider? I am always excited to deepen my existing knowledge and learn about the latest modalities and research. My clients deserve the best. I am constantly attending various training courses and participating in group supervision to enhance my professional knowledge so I could be a better therapist for my clients. How my own core values shape my approach to care I believe in the human capacity for positive change and overcoming adversity. One should never lose hope. I use a gentle and creative approach to guide my clients on their journey to healing and growth. I believe that one approach can not fit all and draw from various therapeutic approaches to accommodate my client's personal needs.
