Hi there, I'm Mary!

Hello! I'm Mary, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Hempstead, New York, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. Life can be challenging sometimes. In my work, I try to provide a safe space where those challenges can be explored and new possibilities can be discovered. I work collaboratively with you to help you re-discover your strengths and to use these to help you deal more effectively with your struggles.

My approach

My approach is to tailor the session to meet the challenges you bring to therapy. In our sessions, depending on your needs, I will utilize therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), client-centered, solution-focused, and humanistic therapy which all encourage you to be an active participant in your healing journey.

My focus

I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults and seniors who are experiencing life transitions and are having difficulty coping with grief and loss. I am most comfortable treating clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, and bereavement. I help clients to navigate life transitions and to problem-solve so that they can be the best version of themselves. I believe strongly in culturally sensitive treatment.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, calm, and non-judgmental. I want clients to feel comfortable with me and know that they can talk to me about anything. I am a very good listener, and I'm culturally sensitive.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have worked as a Geriatric Social Worker for over 23 years, and I just love this population. I really enjoy helping people and listening to people's stories, and I'm amazed by their strength and resilience. I enjoy helping people overcome challenges and seeing them live life to the fullest.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting is to work with you in a partnership and to help you create goals that are achievable and manageable so that you will feel good about your accomplishments going forward.

My first session with you

In our first session, you will talk to me about what brings you to therapy, you will tell me how you have been feeling lately, and I will be asking you questions to try to get a better picture of you and what you are experiencing. The first session is about getting to know you, building trust, and meeting you where you are at presently.
