Hi there, I'm Desiree!

Hi, my name is Desiree I. Reese, LCSW. My approach to therapy is to meet the person where they are at. I prefer that my clients to tell me what their goals for treatment. I utilize a strengths based perspective with a focus on increasing self awareness and mindfulness.

My approach

The most common theoretical approaches I utilize in therapy are Systems theory, Social Learning theory, and Psychosocial Developmental theory.

My focus

I work with adults of all ages who are experiencing challenges in their lives. Typically they are struggling with adjustment disorders, grief, anxiety and or depression.

My communication style

I have been told that I am approachable and good at making people feel comfortable. Working with me is interactive. You will get all the feedback that you desire. However, I am very capable of just listening, if that is what you need from me.

My journey to mental healthcare

As a young person I always wanted to understand why people said and did the things that they do. I have worked in hospitality, banking and retail management. I have always enjoyed meeting new people and helping them. Being a therapist allows me to be the change I would like to see in the world, one person at a time, by giving my clients unconditional positive regard.

My goals for you

I want to help my clients develop tools they can utilize to help themselves. Therefore, my clients needs to be part of the process and work together to create their goals and objectives.

My first session with you

The first session is an ice breaker where we work on building a therapeutic relationship. The way we do that is by my documenting your psychosocial history. These are questions about your life that help to create the foundation of what we have to work with, where you have been, and help to give me a clearer picture of your situation.
