My name is Jessica Villa Alicea, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My goal is to create a safe space for individuals to be vulnerable and heal. I am here for you, it is your therapy, and we will go at your pace. Healing is possible, and my goal is to assist you in that process.
My approach
I am an integrative therapist; I remain open to utilizing different skills and theories based on what the client needs. A few of those frameworks are person-centered, strength-based, spiritual, trauma, humanistic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and coping skills strategies.
My focus
I work with men and women dealing with life stress, anxiety, relationship struggles, depression, spirituality, postpartum disorders, and trauma. When life gets difficult and overwhelming, I make sure to hold space for them to release their emotions.
My communication style
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy, and you have to like your therapist. I allow the client to lead the way by meeting them where they are. Being nonjudgmental, supportive, and actively listening are some of the ways I create a peaceful and transformative environment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I experienced a lot of chaos and struggles throughout my life, and I wanted to do good with it. When I found social work, it connected to my soul, a profession that focuses on helping individuals heal from the chaos and pain of life. I knew this was my purpose, to guide people out of the dark, to support people when they need it most. I am honored to be a therapist and walk with you on this journey.
My goals for you
It is a mutual step between therapist and client, allowing the client to lead the way by being supportive and encouraging. If a client is overwhelmed with a goal, I assist them in breaking the big goal down into smaller, more manageable objectives.
My first session with you
The first session is getting to know the client's history, problems, and goals. We spend time getting to know one another before we dig into any of the hard stuff; baby steps are essential for long-term healing.
