Hello, my name is Eva Korzan, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in New York City. Through telehealth, I work with clients across the state, helping children, adolescents, and adults to address a range of mental health needs. My areas of expertise include ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, life changes, existential concerns, acceptance, grief, and healing from trauma. I prioritize the individual needs of each client and use a person-centered methodology to support self-discovery, healing, and personal growth. I believe that every client has the potential to unlock their unique path to fulfillment, and I am passionate about providing creative and innovative ways to help them understand their life experiences, emotions, and sense of self. Whether you are struggling with a specific issue or seeking general support for your mental health, I am committed to working collaboratively with you to achieve your goals.
My approach
My approach is centered around meeting the unique needs of each individual client. I take a humanistic and collaborative approach, which involves incorporating various therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Object-relational understanding, and Psychoanalytic analysis. Healing happens within the therapeutic relationship. I prioritize building a strong connection with my clients and work to join them in the process of self-discovery and actualization. I provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, gain insights, and develop the tools they need to achieve their goals.
My focus
I offer a versatile approach to therapy that supports anyone seeking emotional and mental health support or interested in self-discovery and self-actualization. For children, I use play therapy and art therapy techniques to help them express emotions related to anxiety, stress, and trauma. With teens, I incorporate age-appropriate activities like collage, talk therapy, and journaling. For adults, I create a safe space for them to share their thoughts and feelings and address challenges related to transitions, anxiety, stress, and loneliness. I help clients navigate their emotions, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to feel better about themselves and their relationships. Together, we can create a more realistic and focused outlook on personal growth and goals. I also do dream analysis and provide support in understanding dreams and what they might mean as unconscious communications.
My communication style
I prioritize creating a safe and welcoming environment for my clients. My communication style is calm and friendly. I aim to help my clients feel at ease discussing any topic. I strongly believe in the power of active listening and strive to listen without judgment or bias, so that clients feel truly heard and understood. My goal is to establish a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions with confidence and without fear of criticism.
My journey to mental healthcare
My personal journey of self-discovery led me to pursue a career in psychology and therapy. I was intrigued by the intricate nature of the human psyche, including topics such as attachment styles, the influence of dreams, and the complexity of our personalities and choices. As I delved deeper into the field, I discovered the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship and the immense potential for growth and self-actualization. Witnessing this firsthand was a profound experience that solidified my desire to help others achieve their own goals and aspirations through therapy.
My goals for you
It is my belief that the client knows themselves best, and my role is to support them on their journey toward greater self-awareness and personal growth. I work collaboratively to identify individual goals and aspirations, taking into account unique strengths, challenges, and life experiences. By fostering a collaborative and client-centered approach, I aim to empower each client to achieve their own unique path toward healing and personal development.
My first session with you
Our first session together is an opportunity for us to establish a strong foundation for our work in therapy. We'll spend time discussing your past and current life experiences, as well as the issues you want to address. As we talk, I may ask you questions to help me better understand your unique perspective and needs. This initial conversation is crucial for building rapport and establishing a comfortable therapeutic relationship, which will be essential for our future work together.
