Hello, my name is Won Joon Yang and I am an LCSW and 1.5th generation immigrant. My approach to therapy is person-centered, evidenced-based and focus on building self-esteem and self-confidence to resolve problems/issues to find the solutions within.
My approach
The approach that I use to provide therapy are deeply rooted in evidence-based and culturally sensitive approach. I use CBT, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation and solution-focused therapy based on the cultural/societal standards of the patients.
My focus
I primarily work with adults who are diagnosed with anxiety, depression, identity crisis, cultural conflict and relationship issues
My communication style
If you were to work with me, you will be provided with a lot of active listening, reflective questioning and processing your emotions from past and present throughout the session. You will be challenged but experience progress.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was encouraged by my professors from college and graduate program to become a therapist, and after my very first session as a therapist I felt just right. I honestly wake up in the morning to provide therapy.
