Welcome! My name is Marsha McDonald and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New York. I received my undergraduate degree from York College and my graduate degrees in Social Work and Childhood Special Education from Adelphi University. My approach is practical and solution-focused. I see therapy as a collaboration between the therapist and the client.
My approach
I utilized a strengths-based perspective and client-centered approach, utilizing several different modalities including CBT, and Motivational Interviewing to suit each unique client’s needs.
My focus
I have a special commitment to working with young adults and women who are experiencing emotional and psychological issues related to reproductive health, women's issues, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
My communication style
Being a therapist allows me to center my engagements and conversations around empathy and compassion, while keeping my clients accountable, empowered, and inspired to live a well-balanced, authentic life.
My journey to mental healthcare
I knew in my early teens I wanted to serve others after witnessing how quickly things can alter in one’s life due to circumstances beyond their control. The dynamics of a family can change in an instant when dealing with grief and loss.
