Hi there, I'm Jennifer!

Hi, I'm Jen! My name is Jennifer Rook and I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I work with adults and specialize in Anxiety, OCD, Depression, and Women's Health issues. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychoanalytical Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy to help clients overcome obstacles and live their best lives.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies depending on the individual needs of each client. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychoanalytical Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy as these modalities help establish a strong therapeutic relationship and promote positive lifelong change.

My focus

I feel that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who are struggling with mood dysregulation, experiencing life changes, and/or interpersonal conflict. This often takes the form of low self-esteem, unmanageable stress, feeling overwhelmed, engaging in people-pleasing behaviors, and finding it difficult to enjoy daily life. I help clients navigate through some of the most challenging moments of their life.

My communication style

My communication is warm, supportive, caring, funny, and direct. It is important to me that my clients feel understood, I am never judgmental or pushy.

My journey to mental healthcare

I am someone who is a born helper and has an enormous sense of compassion for others. I have always enjoyed listening to the stories/experiences of others, trying to understand others in a deeper way. This curiosity led me to pursue a career in Psychology which has been meaningful and fulfilling.

My goals for you

I believe that it is important to have goals that are collaborative and meet the needs of each individual client. Throughout our time together we will make progress towards and achieve goals that you have set for yourself.

My first session with you

During our first session together we will complete a thorough psychosocial evaluation. This will help us begin to build a relationship, process your life experiences, and understand any challenges you are experiencing in your life. Therapy should be tailored to meet the individual needs of each client and their unique life experiences.
