Hi there, I'm Gina!

Accepting new clients. Hello! Finding the right therapist to provide you with the expertise, experience, and compassionate care necessary to help you successfully resolve problematic symptoms, navigate life transitions, maximize your strengths, resolve your traumas, improve your relationships, and live your best life, is one of the most important decisions you can make. As a Clinical Psychologist, I believe there is no greater privilege than to be trusted and invited into a person's most personal thoughts, feelings, behaviors, vulnerabilities, and strengths. I value the opportunity to work with each person who allows me this trust. I am delighted you have decided to take this first step! My name is Dr. Gina Ferrandino. I am a PsyD. New York and New Jersey Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 30 years of expertise working with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of treatment settings. I first want to tell you that whatever you are going through, for however long, and however significant your problems or symptoms may be, we will work collaboratively to help you successfully navigate through that forest to get from where you are right now to show where and how you want to be. I provide a safe, confidential place to collaboratively define your goals and determine the most appropriate and effective treatment approach for your individual needs and according to your preferences. You will never be treated with a cookie-cutter approach. I offer non-judgmental therapy for all, and I also specialize in working with those seeking biblically based, Christian-focused therapy. I also have special expertise working with LGBTQ individuals and couples.

My approach

I provide an eclectic approach to therapy, uniquely designed to fit your problems, preferences and personal style utilizing evidenced-based treatment including the following: Cognitive Behavioral therapy Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Problem-Solving Mindfulness Biblically Based Christian-Focused Therapy Trauma Treatment, including EMDR, Cognitive Processing and Accelerated Resolution Therapies Stress Management Marital/Couples Counseling Gender Affirming Therapy Social Skills Training Grief Therapy Assertive Communicaiton and Conflict-Resolution Skills Training Behavioral Activation Response Prevention Treatment and more

My focus

My clients are motivated individuals and couples who are ready to work collaboratively and actively engage in the therapeutic process, are open to change and willing to practice making those changes, applying new skills, and ready to make a commitment to practice replacing old maladaptive behaviors with healthier, more adaptive and more satisfying coping. We optimize your strengths and utilize them, even as you grow and develop more skills and strengths throughout our work together.

My communication style

You will find me warm, compassionate, understanding, and direct. Your time is valuable and I work to keep us focused and moving forward to accomplish your treatment goals in each and every session. You will always find me open to your feedback and you will find our relationship based on honesty, clarity, and transparency.

My journey to mental healthcare

I do what I do because it is such an exciting and privileged opportunity to be invited into a working relationship in which I can see people, grow and change and resolve issues, symptoms, and problems that they were not able to before. It is a blessing to see people leave therapy knowing they have the strengths and skills to flourish and continue to grow long after our therapeutic work has ended, knowing that I am trusted to help should any problems arise in the future. I do not believe that "any therapy is better than no therapy". Many people have become discouraged and lose faith that they can be helped after dropping out of a therapeutic experience that did not adequately meet their needs or where they did not feel understood or truly listened to. You are an individual. You are unique and have a whole package of strengths, weaknesses and vulnerabilities, and capabilities. You are one of a kind and I value the opportunity to get to know you, who you truly are. I will give you 100% of my time, experience, expertise, and knowledge during our work together. However, I promise one other thing...I will not work harder than you. Your success relies on your motivation and willingness to apply new knowledge, wisdom, and skills learned in sessions, and actively practice and apply them in your life between sessions. If that is what you are looking for in a therapeutic relationship and therapy experience, I want to say welcome, and let's get started!

My goals for you

Goal setting is a collaborative and active process. I do not push an agenda on a client or choose what goals I will work on. We will work together to best define your initial goal(s) and objectives for your therapy, and we will review those goals and progress, throughout the therapy process.

My first session with you

Our first session is a time to learn about each other and for me to get a good thorough understanding of your presenting problems and needs as well as your personal strengths. We will explore the history and nature of your problems and have a working understanding of the kind of therapeutic approach(s) that would be most beneficial for meeting your therapy goals. My goal for every initial session is that you leave feeling renewed with the hope that you can resolve the problems and achieve the goals you are seeking. My expectation is that you will leave feeling not only understood and heard but knowing your problems are understandable and can be improved and resolved.
