Hi there, I'm Christine "Tina"!

My name is Christine "Tina" Gemberling, LISW-S. I am a therapist with over 10 years of experience as a Licensed Independent Social Worker, with my supervision designation. My experience includes counseling in areas of grief and loss, life changes, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, and much more. In sessions, I utilize a person-centered approach and work with my clients to develop goals of care.

My approach

I often use both a behavioral and psychodynamic approach with clients. Which approach utilized is generally based on a client's goals of therapy. I prefer taking an integrative approach because I believe that complementary theories can be most effective for clients and both their long and short-term goals.

My focus

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.” — Albus Dumbledore I focus my work on adults, ages 18 and up. My main focus areas are life adjustments, anxiety, ADHD, depression, couples therapy, and grief. I am also experienced in treating individuals with chronic illness, trauma, family disruptions, and older adult issues.

My communication style

The tone of my sessions depends on my client's needs. I prefer to let a client set the tone if they are able. The first sessions are dedicated to creating a therapeutic bond and trust. My goal, as a therapist, is to "nudge" and help clients find their path.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have always been in a "helping" field. I started my career working as a paralegal and mediator in the court system. I went back for my Master's in order to be able to help people on a more individual basis. I worked for over 12 years in the hospice field as well, and it was there that I found my passion for helping people work through seemingly impossible situations. I find that my ability to listen, interpret non-verbals, and to meet clients is where they make me successful in my field.

My goals for you

Through the use of an integrative approach, I help a client establish both their long and short-term goals of care. This is established within the first visits. However, goals of care are fluid and evolve as the Client's needs and goals evolve.

My first session with you

The first session in counseling is integral. My goal during this session is to help establish trust and a therapeutic bond. Clients should feel comfortable, not judged, and able to openly express their needs and concerns.
