Live life to the fullest! Hello. My name is Bernadette Hulsinger, License PC006235. Sometimes it is very hard to see how the difficulties in life can help us grow. Facing these struggles can feel overwhelming. Everyday life can leave us feeling defeated. Therapy based on wellness can help us look at these difficulties through a new lens. Some days feel impossible to face, yet we have to continue to function. Talking through these life events can help us find our strength. We are not alone in our struggles, even if we feel like we are the only person in the world fighting the uphill battle. Sharing the burdens of the days filled with despair can help us to feel a renewed competency in life. Our days of turmoil can lead to rediscovering strength and competence. When we feel supported, we can learn to flourish and thrive. We are not broken, and we are not alone. Improving our wellness ounce by ounce is rewarding, and those days we don’t want to face can become less heavy. Therapy is not just for talking through problems. Therapy is about engaging in life with a more solid self-identity that is based on wellness. Let’s talk about life, struggles, celebrations, love, pain, despair, strength, and WELLNESS!
My approach
My approach as a provider is through the lens of wellness. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, Gestalt, role play, family systems, mindfulness, and humanistic. We all struggle, and we can all get stronger through these difficult days. Life can get messy, but we can all grow and learn to thrive through wellness!
My focus
I work primarily with adults, families, couples, parents, and everyday people to obtain and maintain a sense of self and stability. I am comfortable with trauma of all sorts. I am a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider (BC-TMH). Diagnosis, anxiety, depression, parenting, sex, marriage, and moving through daily struggles are just a few of the areas that I help my patients address in an effort to ease the burden of life and bring a renewed sense of identity and strength.
My communication style
My communication style is very conversational. The goal is to feel comfortable, supported, validated, and heard. Understanding YOU and meeting you "where you're at" in life is my intention in every session.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a Therapist because I loved self-exploration. The diversity in life experiences makes this world an amazing place. I believe in wellness, growth, and reframing difficult life events so that we can recognize our competence, our humanity, and our growth.
My goals for you
Goal setting is very personal and will be led by you in session. I'll help you pick apart and dissect your areas of desired improved wellness. Therapy is about what YOU want to achieve. My goal is to help you to make autonomous decisions i.e. decisions about your life that are meaningful to YOU and respecting the path that YOU want to take to help your life feel more fulfilling and satisfying.
My first session with you
In the first session, I want to know about you as a whole person. I'll ask what brings you to therapy, gather information related to your background, and give you options about moving forward in therapy. It took me over a dozen providers to find that one special counselor with whom I made a connection; I respect that process.
