My name is Danielle Mikeska, M.Ed, LPC. I enjoy working with clients struggling with a wide range of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, couples issues, and stress. Life is full of ups, downs, twists, and turns. Maybe you are worried that no one can understand or relate to your situation. Whether you need help navigating the turns of life, bringing yourself up from the downs, or just celebrating the ups, I am here. We all handle life differently, and that is perfectly okay! My focus is to help you figure out what is not working and find what will.
My approach
I use different approaches to different clients depending on their situations, however, cognitive-behavioral therapy and person-centered therapy are typically the primary approaches used.
My focus
I enjoy working with clients struggling with a wide range of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, couples, and stress.
My communication style
With each client, I aim to relate to each client that I see. I work to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease. I am friendly and warm and like to enjoy some humor when appropriate, but I can also be more blunt and transparent when warranted in sessions.
My journey to mental healthcare
When I was young, I could have benefited from being able to speak with someone about things going on in my life. I would like to be able to be that person for people who feel like they either don't have anyone to turn to or just need an unbiased ear. I have always loved helping others and lending an empathetic ear. Counseling quickly became my passion when I learned how much of a difference people's lives could have by having a person and space to feel safe.
My goals for you
I like to leave it to the client to let me know what goals they would like to achieve, alongside the goals that I will establish. Goal setting is constant and ever-changing. As we set goals and meet them, we change may learn of new goals we would like to achieve.
My first session with you
In your first session with me, you can expect me to explain what our counseling treatment will look like moving forward. I also like for the client to take the lead in the first sessions, as the more information that is given, the more I am able to figure out the best course of treatment.
