Hello, I am Rachel Marshall, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. I'm Board Certified with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I am also a Master Certified Professional Coach (MCPC).
My approach
I offer counselling from a Christian faith perspective. You were created to overcome everything thrown at you! I provide therapeutic interactions based on clients' needs, histories, perspectives, and goals using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person-centred Therapy (PCT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) or a combination of modalities. I am training to become a Certified Complex Trauma Treatment Professional. I am familiar with Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS) modalities.
My focus
I am passionate about helping people with their spiritual, psychological, emotional and behavioural (whole person) well-being. I welcome clients for individual counselling sessions (pre-teens and older) who find themselves in a state of high stress and anxiety and have a history of traumatic experiences, and are ready to change for the better. Couples and families of any age are also welcome.
My communication style
I have an interactive communication style. My primary goal is to help clients feel safe, comfortable and genuinely cared for by establishing a therapeutic relationship. I prefer to provide a lot of psychoeducation and truly believe that most people have the capacity to do better and feel better when they understand better is an option available to them.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have a history of Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). As I was seeking healing, I encountered many therapists who did not know how to help me or could not connect with me quickly enough for me to stick around for more than 3 sessions. I endeavour to become the help to others that I was searching for myself. I am now on a mission to help those who are keeping their hope for healing alive. Many people are still in the process of learning how C-PTSD differs from PTSD, and it's important to know the difference.
My goals for you
I consider clients' needs, histories, and perspectives as I approach goal setting through educating clients and helping them verbalize their concerns so together we can identify their most relevant and attainable goals to work towards.
My first session with you
A client's first session is unique compared to subsequent sessions because I ask a lot of questions in the most conversational manner that I can to complete an initial assessment of their concerns, background, symptoms, and reasons for desiring therapy.
