Hi! My name is Andrea Laskowski, and I have a Masters of Science degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in Houston, and I am dual-licensed as a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and a LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) in Texas. I work with partners, couples, and marriages to improve communication, trust, and general satisfaction within your relationships. I truly enjoy working with individuals, couples and partners and helping through rough patches or simply teaching tools you can use at home to boost happiness, confidence, and commitment in the relationship. I hold therapy for individuals as well.
My approach
Clients can expect to take away from our sessions tools to try at home and resources for specific things if wanted. I can always think of homework to try during the week if you would like (not everyone likes that) or just great conversation and things to think about during the week. As a therapist, I strive for your success so that you can learn tools and live life to the fullest again!
My focus
I utilize individual therapy with collaborative dialogical, solution-focused, narrative therapy as well as other methods. I see individuals with issues such as anxiety, depression, job stress, trauma, and relationship concerns or strain. I utilize couples therapy with solution-focused for couples. I have experience helping couples through trust, commitment, connection, infidelity, and communication. I have training in family therapy as well, with different types of family therapy (ie Mom & daughter, siblings, roomates, cousins, niece/uncle, etc). I am open to assisting in any type of relationship that would help you.
My communication style
I have been told that I am very personable, and it is obvious even in the first session that I truly care about your situation and how to make it better. You have my focus, and you have my undivided attention the entire time.
My journey to mental healthcare
I wanted to become a therapist to assist people in achieving their goals to be whoever they want to be, and choose their own path in life.
My goals for you
At the first session (or sometimes the second session), I ask you what you would like to see differently in your life - and what goals are for therapy that would mark "the finish line."
My first session with you
I ask background information in the first session that the intake does not provide necessarily - especially within your nuclear family (or family of origin).
