My name is Jamesia, and I am a Christian woman who loves to help others! I am married with 1 kiddo and consider myself to be a family-oriented person. I work together with my clients to help them with thinking about the issues they’re facing from different angles and points. Together we can work to change the negatives into positives.
My approach
My approach is to provide support & practical feedback to help you effectively address personal & professional life stressors. With compassion & understanding, I work with each individual to help build on their strengths & attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. I usually use Cognitive behavioral therapy and person-centered therapy. I have mostly worked with those struggling with communication issues, anger, stress, anxiety, and depression concerns.
My focus
Typically, my clients have struggled with feeling stuck, finding and balancing life. They are angry and unsure why, struggling with stress, excessive worrying, or intense feelings of sadness.
My communication style
I am an effective listener, and my communication style is Participatory and empowering. My tone is usually going to be empathetic but firm based on your needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been counseling and guiding those in need of guidance for over 5 years. I have a passion for helping people, and my love for healthy communication and support is what drew me to therapy. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Texas in Development and Family Studies and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.
My goals for you
For each client, my goal is for you to enjoy coming to therapy, participate and be consistent with coming to each session. Progress doesn’t always look linear. It can be ups and down, as setbacks are normal.
My first session with you
The first session is usually intake, detailed, and all about you and your needs and hopes for therapy.
