Hi there, I'm Kori!

Hi there! My name is Kori Joslyn Cottar, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 8 years of experience as a clinician. I am based in North Texas and enjoy working with clients statewide via telehealth. I am passionate about supporting all of my clients through various challenges, anxiety, depression, and stress management as well as working through traumatic experiences, walking with and supporting them as they navigate through this healing journey.

My approach

Life is a journey, uniquely our own, and offers each of us an array of distinctive experiences. We all face transitions and challenges that present us with opportunities to grow, gain insight, heal and explore our personal growth and potential. I am honored to meet you where you are on your journey, provide therapeutic support, and find solutions that enable you to live a healthier, more fulfilling life. Counseling is about finding the freedom to write a future you choose to embrace. Collaboratively we will work to overcome ineffective behavioral patterns in an effort to achieve your personal goals.

My focus

I enjoy working with clients that may find themselves in a difficult season of life struggling with anxiety or depression or the stress that comes from living life. Healing traumatic wounds from past experiences, I appreciate the strength and empowerment of supporting clients as they heal and build the life they choose to live. I appreciate working with clients, honoring and meeting each and every client on their individual journey in healing.

My communication style

Our time together will be a safe haven where it is okay for you to "not be okay" as we work together in therapy. I strive to support, encourage, educate, and empower you each step throughout our time together. During our sessions, you will find a safe, non-judgmental, empathetic environment that will reveal the "difference that makes a difference" in each person's life. Change is inevitable. Progress is optional. Choice is the most powerful asset we have at our disposal. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life, choosing to make the first steps toward change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to help support and empower your every step of the way!

My journey to mental healthcare

I love what I do! Being a therapist is more than a job--it reflects a core part of me that enjoys getting to know people at a real level. The therapy process allows for authentic, face-to-face conversations in a sometimes difficult world. As a Therapist, I guide people through personal challenges, help ease emotional burdens, and empower people to achieve a healthier mind. With a new mindset, clients can pursue new ways to live in both their professional and personal lives.

My goals for you

Collaboratively, we will work towards cultivating new coping skills and strategies, identifying personal strengths, reshape relationships, and overcome ineffective behavioral patterns in an effort to achieve the goals you would like to see reflected in your life and the way you live life.

My first session with you

Our first session together will be a warm, accepting, encouraging, safe haven where you can share your life, and experiences and where together we can make the hope you feel a reality reflective in the life you want to live. This is your life, and I am here to support, encourage, educate, and empower you at every step and stage along the way. Cultivating a space where you will be seen and heard.
