Hi there, I'm Rosemary!

My name is Rosemary Parker, I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University, and I am Licensed as a Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. My approach to therapy is relationally based, meaning we work collaboratively to understand how to meet your specific needs. As a Christ follower, I aim to help minister to the emotional and spiritual needs of believers and individuals in the community.

My approach

I like to combine mindfulness practices, exposure, and response prevention techniques, as well as dialectical behavioral therapy. When requested, I love to incorporate biblical principles and practices into sessions.

My focus

Over the years, my passion has been cultivated to help treat anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Trauma. Outside of anxiety disorders, I enjoy working with adults to build a healthier self-concept and purpose in life.

My communication style

Naturally, I am quiet and introspectively orientated, which consequently creates an open and warm environment for self-exploration and open communication. Working with me is like talking with a compassionate confidant. A person who demonstrates acceptance, validation, and objectivity. I am willing to help you confront the difficult realities that you may face and support your decisions by empowering you to make the necessary changes.

My journey to mental healthcare

My path to becoming a therapist started after a decade of working in the field of Exercise Physiology. Although working in research was making a difference globally, I was not able to directly see my impact. Therefore, I decided to make a change that was more fulfilling. My journey of healing from past trauma drew me closer to a desire to work with individuals who also wanted to heal from their painful experiences. After obtaining my Master of Counseling in 2018, I received extensive training working with high-acuity patients receiving mental health care at inpatient treatment centers, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. In a clinical setting, I had the privilege of working with young children, adolescents, individual adults, couples, and family units. I am trained as both a trauma professional and a Dialectical Behavioral Therapist. The most remarkable healing lies within the strength of our connections, and I have learned through these various settings that without understanding how you belong, that feeling of loneliness creates a wedge between who you are today and who you want to become tomorrow.

My goals for you

Setting goals is essential in developing a growth mindset. Identifying and creating meaningful goals is a skill. We will work together to understand specific changes you would like to make and set measurable goals by the third session, revisiting them often to ensure we are still on the right track.

My first session with you

Our first session will include briefly exploring your background, stressors leading up to seeking therapy, support systems, and coping strategies. We will also review what you can expect from therapy as well as your responsibilities as a client.
