Hi there, I'm Susanne!

Hello, my name is Susanne Maynard, (LCSW TX #59606). Years ago, I became a therapist because I learned from personal experience how helpful a therapeutic relationship can be. For many years I struggled in silence while trying to make sense of the fear, confusion, and sadness I felt on the inside. Eventually, I sought the help of a skilled and compassionate counselor-and it completely turned my life around!

My approach

My approach is eclectic and tailored to each client, although the primary method I utilize is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotions. Together we will work to uncover underlying thought patterns that have kept you ‘stuck’ so that you can move toward adopting more positive thoughts, behaviors, and skills that will empower you to go forward.

My focus

I work well with those experiencing anxiety, depression and grief. My biggest strengths are personal experience, a love of learning, and a willingness to try something new. I am always learning and growing. I believe my best work is done with those who have been wounded in the past, and are now ready to take charge of their personal healing journey.

My communication style

My place is to listen with an open heart, without judgment. I have found that trust, compassion and mutual collaboration within the therapeutic relationship are the most important factors for promoting healing and personal growth. I am on your side!

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a therapist because I believe in the healing power of positive and loving relationships. My life was radically changed for the better through the relationship I had with a therapist-creating in me a desire to do the same for others.

My goals for you

During our time together, we will begin to clarify what your specific desires and outcome goals for treatment might look like. Only you can determine what is most important to you and what you would like to achieve during our sessions together.

My first session with you

We will explore together what you believe is keeping you 'stuck' and what you would like to change. I will listen with an open heart and provide encouragement, honest feedback, and practical tools that you can use to assist and help you make progress.
