Hi there, I'm Mary!

Hi there, my name is Mary Wilson and I look forward to connecting with you! I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Texas and a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and certified domestic violence progressional (CDVP) in Illinois. I view sessions as an opportunity to have an honest, direct, and intentional conversation allowing you to work on personal goals and living authentically. Sessions are collaborative and go at the pace you feel most comfortable.

My approach

I view the client as a whole person and identify in holistic healing: helping clients find well-being in their mind, body, and spirit. Each person that I work with could benefit from a variety of approaches. I utilize several theoretical approaches including Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, and Jungian.

My focus

I typically collaborate with clients who are goal and action-oriented. They are ready to take an active approach in their counseling process both inside and outside of sessions. Primarily I focus on working with clients who experience anxiety, major life transitions, domestic violence, and clients who are interested in exploring identity.

My communication style

My goal is to create a warm, open, and direct dialogue where clients will feel comfortable expressing themselves without feeling like needing to edit themselves.

My journey to mental healthcare

My passion is helping people during those moments of life that require an accepting and listening ear. My work as a counselor began facilitating groups for men convicted of domestic violence/assault. I think anyone who wants to change/grow/heal and is ready to take an honest and active approach, is capable. They just need the right set of tools and my passion is creatively helping clients discover them.

My goals for you

Starting with defining long-term/big-picture goals, I help clients break down the goals into manageable present-moment steps.

My first session with you

The first session is an introduction to define the goals of counseling, provide a brief history of current concerns or goals, and get to know each other a bit. If both the client and counselor determine it’s a good fit, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled.
