Over the last eight years, I have provided care and treatment to individuals looking for similar support as yourself. I have worked with minor children, adolescents, young adults, individuals, couples, married couples, families, groups, veterans, and the senior community all for the same reasons; to provide care and treatment during challenging times. I graduated from Liberty University in 2015 with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy therefore noticeably my passion is to provide specialized care to those with relationship, and marriage conflict with therapeutic techniques, and interventions from marriage and family therapy. I am also very versed in providing crisis support to those individuals challenged with suicidal ideation "thoughts", plans, or a history of attempting to end life by suicide.
My approach
My approach aside from being warm, understanding, and able to assist you is to use clinical interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered approaches to name a few. I would consider myself an eclectic therapist, so I really work hard on meeting the needs of the client specifically with clinical support.
My focus
Clients that I best support are those seeking help and open to me as the therapist "meeting you right where you are" and providing clinical support by educating you on your mental health challenges. With clients, I collaboratively devise a plan to help them lower the intensity and frequency of these challenges affecting their daily life rhythms. In addition, my best client is the one looking for a non-judgmental, warm, supportive place to unpack real-life scenarios that typically induce stress, depression, anxiety, and at times unfortunately trauma. I always welcome client's looking for a place to talk and be heard. My specialties due to my experience, training, and educational pursuits include working with individuals in conflict due to self-love, dating-relationship issues, couple, and marriage conflict, as well as women issues.
My communication style
Because I am familiar with the intimidation counseling can present and the stigmas that surround the nature of signing up for therapy my approach is welcoming, warm and open. I will meet the client right where they are to begin the process of change. My tone is cordial, my demeanor is friendly, and my approach is listening style is effective to make sure the client is being heard.
My journey to mental healthcare
Since age 8 I have understood that this is my calling to become a Licensed Professional Counselor, or specifically to support clients with relational and family issues. I come from a background of family issues, and I felt it necessary to follow a path that supports the needs of an individual's wellness and family systems.
My goals for you
My goal as a Therapist is to collaboratively help the client discover their desired level of change and help them meet it!
My first session with you
Typically, the first session is a Q & A called an intake session. During this time clients will be asked a variety of questions. In this one-hour session, we will use the time getting to understand the client's needs, mental health challenges, and situational stressors that bring them into a clinical setting. It is a warm meeting not to be intimated by due to the welcoming and understanding nature of therapist and client. For now, and until further notice, this is appointment is in a virtual setting.
