Hi there, I'm Adrianna!

Hi my name is Adrianna Alatorre, licensed professional counselor in Texas. My approach uses several therapy modalities that target trauma, depressive symptoms, and anxiety disorders. My concentration consists of assisting those that have either acute or chronic mental health conditions that disrupt their everyday life. My interventions aid the client in discovering their resilience and lead them to their self-made recovery. I am your co-pilot who along the way provides a road map but you as my client maintain control of your treatment.

My approach

Eclectically, I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Jungian Psychoanalytic Theory. For those suffering trauma my typical approach consists of mood regulation through Mindfulness then when the client gains regulation EMDR is my approach of choice. I like to empower my client through the use of CBT which challenges distortions in thinking and helps to reframe the way a person views themselves, others, and the world. Through it all I help the client achieve individuation through analyzation of dreams, processing the different areas of the subconscious that infiltrates the psyche creating disruption in for the ego. With the aid of the aforementioned methods the client works on creating positive self-esteem and rediscovering the power they lost due to mental health illness, trauma, or mismanagement of everyday stressors. I also utilize DBT's approach of the Three Mind State that will assist with the development of "Wise Mind." In conclusion, I work with substance abuse issues that inhibit wellbeing and am able to treat dual diagnoses a client may experience.

My focus

I typically work with ages 14 and up. My primary population is adults and through my years in private practice the bulk of my population has been adult individuals. Currently, I work with veterans who typically have long term trauma stemming either from wartime service or deployments into hostile regions. However, I do possess the ability to address the delicate issues of a young adolescent and am able to identify needs expediently. I have the ability to work with a wide array of issues ranging from LGBTQ challenges to the individual struggling with their eating. I feel comfortable tackling a vast array of issues and in 11 years of service in the mental health industry I have been able to help many clients from very different areas of life and development.

My communication style

I am a conversationalist so I like to talk to you. Contrarily, I do know when to quiet myself and just listen. I am open to direction and will regularly check in with you to gauge your comfortability. I create an easy going, secure environment that you can freely express your grievances and fears. I am careful with my words and do take very seriously the potential for transference.

My journey to mental healthcare

I found it by accident. Mental health field was an only option and I decided that it could be a good fit for me. It was. I am able to work with people that have incredible emotional pain and in providing any type of relief gives me great joy and motivation to continue my work as a healer. The mind is the last untapped universe and it holds many wonderful abilities and discoveries that I am continuously excited to learn about. Allow me to share my excitement and expertise and you too can be lifted away from the shadow in your mind.

My goals for you

I ask what you would like to see evolve, develop, or change. I assist with putting ideas into measurable outcomes so you can judge progress with ease. I ask for your input and am guided by your desire to become and actualize.

My first session with you

I get to know you. It is important for me to know all areas of your life so I can determine what is the best approach for your specific issue(s). From that first interaction I determine the goals for treatment and initiate your plan for healing.
