I am a Ph.D. candidate and currently finishing up my dissertation at Texas A&M University-Commerce. I received my Bachelor of Science in Counseling from Santa Clara University and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Tarleton State University.
My approach
I am humanistic and strength-based oriented. My primary treatment modalities are always client-centered, utilizing brief, behavioral, and cognitive techniques in therapy for adults and adolescents. I maintain an environment of encouragement, compassion, and understanding to help each of my clients build on their strengths and attain the growth and changes they want to achieve. I assist individuals, couples, and families in effectively resolving issues. When working with couples and families, we work together to find new solutions and gain new perspectives.
My focus
I specialize in counseling adults with relational issues. I am a certified IMAGO couples therapist. I counsel couples seeking to enhance their relationship in communication, trust, conflict, emotional connectivity, and intimacy. I provide therapy for adults and adolescents, as well as individuals, families, and couples. I am also EMDR certified, assisting clients with trauma-related issues such as emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.
My communication style
I maintain an environment of encouragement, compassion, and understanding to help each of my clients build on their strengths and attain the growth and changes they want to achieve.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was in the corporate world for over a decade and achieved success as a Marketing director. Although I enjoyed my job, I felt I was missing something. I took some time to self-reflect and embarked upon the counseling field. I never looked back because this has been my most fulfilling job.
My goals for you
I think success and progress look like clients feeling heard and receiving the help they need. Many of my clients come back to me and say it's because they felt heard and received the help they needed at the time. I help the success of our sessions by incorporating informational sheets. I like to discuss these sheets in session with my clients, then have them practice on their own with the informational sheets given.
My first session with you
In our first session, I gathered as much as possible of the client's backstory of what brought them to counseling in the first place. I make some suggestions of where we might start, and together we assess what the next steps would be.
