My name is Eddie Traughber and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in East Texas but working with clients statewide via telehealth. Through my faith-based approach, I work with adults and couples and specialize in anxiety, sexual addiction, trauma, and grief counseling, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy to help my clients achieve their goals and improve their lives.
My approach
In my practice, I use a blend of several theoretical approaches depending on the client and their goals. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, as well as others. The approach is tailored to the specific situation.
My focus
I have spent the last 27+ years working with clients who are struggling with trauma, grief, anxiety, abuse, and sexual addiction issues. I love working with adults who are motivated to change even if they don't know what is holding them back or how they are stuck where they are.
My communication style
I strive to connect with my clients as a "normal person" and not a clinician. I avoid using psychobabble and therapy jargon and instead try to talk to people in ways they best understand. I also use appropriate levels of humor and sarcasm to help people cope with the difficulties of life.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always enjoyed helping people. After spending some time in ministry training, I decided that my talents and abilities were best suited for counseling. I enjoy helping people walk in freedom from the things that hold them back.
My goals for you
Goals are vital to the therapeutic process. If we don't know what the end goal is, we won't know if we are making progress or when we are finished. I help clients establish goals in the first session based on where they are and what they want to accomplish in our time together.
My first session with you
Our first session will be used for introductions, covering topics that apply to the therapeutic process (i.e. confidentiality), exploring your reason for seeking help at this time, setting goals for therapy, and answering any initial questions about the counseling process.
