My name is Aubrie Nielsen-Hernandez LPC, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I enjoy helping others discover a new perspective on life. My goal is to assist people in working towards fulfilling their goals, meeting their needs, and rediscovering themselves.
My approach
I want to support my clients by using therapeutic methods that best fit their needs. In order to do this, I combine different therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive-behavioral, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness, and Person-Centered therapy.
My focus
I have experience working with individuals who have a wide range of concerns including substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, co-occurring disorders, and life stress.
My communication style
I work to create an environment that feels comfortable and safe for my clients. I want my clients to feel validated and motivated to work towards their goals. I encourage my clients to find motivation from within and I believe they are the experts in their own lives. I feel privileged to get to walk alongside my clients in their therapy journey.
My journey to mental healthcare
Becoming a therapist was something I stumbled upon during my time in college and I fell in love with the profession. I have always been a helper and finding a career where I get the privilege of helping others every day was truly a blessing. I enjoy being a person people can count on and feel safe with as they work through challenges in their lives. Watching people grow within themselves is an amazing experience that I get to be a part of.
My goals for you
I encourage clients to take an active role in setting goals for therapy. I want clients to be invested in their goals and I want to make sure our therapy goals are relevant and important to the client.
My first session with you
During our first session, clients can expect to find a comfortable environment where we will gather information and get to know one and other. It can be intimidating to start therapy or meet a new therapist, so I work to make that transition easier. We will talk about the reasons that brought you to therapy and what you are hoping to get out of it. We will also discuss what the therapy process will look like and clients are encouraged to ask any questions they might have.
