Hello! My name is Ms. Tawanda McPhatter and I'm a licensed professional counselor. I have been providing therapy for 12 years.
My approach
I use Behavioral approaches to assist my clients, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I am happy to help you today with any of your behavioral health concerns and needs.
My focus
I work with adults only ages 18 and up. I specialize in anger management, anxiety, depression, parenting issues, and mood disorders. I use Behavioral approaches to assist my clients.
My communication style
I allow my clients a safe space to discuss their issues, concerns, and needs for themselves. I am a very avid listener and I feel that listening is very important when assisting my clients and helps identify their feelings and thoughts on things so that I can identify ways that I can be of assistance in helping to work through and/or address these issues and/or concerns.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I have always wanted to assist others with working through and managing life issues.
My goals for you
When approaching goal setting, I allow my clients to tell what goals they would like to reach while in therapy. If I feel that other goals could be beneficial I will share that with my client and discuss with them if they are open to those goals as well.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients can expect me to introduce myself and allow my client to verbally express their issues and needs as I assess if I would be a good fit for them. I will provide feedback and recommendations as see fit.
