Hello, my name is Lisa Harris. I am a Christian that is a counselor. I believe that one's faith is instrumental in the counseling process. I am experienced in individual, family, and couples counseling. I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents in both school and counseling settings.
My approach
I use an integrative approach including but not limited to CBT, Solution Focus, and EMDR.
My focus
The population that I work most with are clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, work stress, marriage issues, parent-child issues, and trauma.
My communication style
My goal in counseling is to meet individuals where they are and assist them on their journey to emotional wellness. I am light-hearted, yet direct. I am supportive and seek to always encourage them in finding their strength. I believe active listening and rephrasing are key to ensuring that I as the therapist hear each client. So I frequently seek to confirm what is being said.
My journey to mental healthcare
My career has always been in the helping field in one form or another as a special education teacher, a case manager, a wellness coach, and finally as an LPC. My heart's desire is to see people emotionally well.
My goals for you
Successful care and progress differ for everyone, however, each individual should be assisted in developing goals that would provide them with the tools and skills to grow and navigate life.
My first session with you
I have found that it can be helpful to also allow the client to just talk freely. This would be done in the first part of the session. The latter part of the session would consist of me asking questions to gain a better understanding of how I may walk alongside them on their journey to emotional well-being. We would close by developing treatment goals together.
