Hi! I'm Olivia Adams from Richmond, VA, in the Tidewater area. I am a helping professional who is invested in empowerment and transformation. Change can be challenging and uncomfortable to feel vulnerable; however, I am proud to say that I have had the pleasure and privilege to witness and be a part of vast transformations in numerous lives over the past 17 years, not to mention my own.
My approach
The therapeutic approaches that I find most compelling are Person-centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Although those are most effective in my counseling experience, I am not limited to those approaches, as I embrace the philosophy of 'To meet you where you are.' I also utilize Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapy, Compassion Focused therapy, and Solution Focused therapy.
My focus
As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), I have assisted many men and women with rehabilitation from addiction, incarceration, mental illness, and trauma. I am willing to see individuals, couples, and minors (ages 13-17). My specialties include addiction, anger management, anxiety, coping skills, depression, dual diagnosis, codependency, drug abuse, grief, panic attacks, relapse prevention, self esteem, substance use, trauma and PTSD, and women's issues.
My communication style
I aim to be supportive and empathetic with open and honest communication to reach your personal goals. With that being said, I plan to work WITH you and support you in making radical changes to achieve YOUR transformation and empower you on your life journey!
My journey to mental healthcare
I majored in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology with a minor in Substance abuse, which has given me a broad perspective and a wide scope in being an effective helping professional. I earned my Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. From 04/2017 to 05/2019, I completed my clinical hours for licensure at Richmond Behavioral Health Authority located at 107 S. 5th Street in Richmond, VA 23219.
My goals for you
Overall, my goal is to empower you and support your personal transformation journey. I want to help you develop effective coping skills, improve your self-esteem, and achieve the positive changes you desire in your life. Together, we will work towards your rehabilitation, well-being and growth.
