Warm Greetings! Deciding to come to therapy can be overwhelming and I applaud you for taking a courageous first step. My name is Anitra Holloway and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in VA. I believe therapy is the place where you can come and unload all of your stuff and develop the courage to embrace small changes one step at a time.
My approach
My approach to counseling is holistic. I utilize practices that involve connecting mind and body, as well as promoting overall wellness. The modalities I utilize include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, solution-focused, mindfulness, trauma-focused approaches, and Somatic (connecting mind and body) strategies.
My focus
I have over 10 yrs of experience working with couples teens, and adults with various mental health issues or life concerns. Most clients I work with clients to assist them in finding productive and healthy ways to manage and grow through depression, grief, life stressors, trauma-related issues, anxiety, as well as relationship issues. My communication style
I strive to create an environment where a client is actively listened to and welcomed to be his, her, or their authentic self. I promote an environment where transparency, acceptance, and validation are encompassed in words and actions. I encourage clients to come in and have interactive conversations.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist to assist others in reviving their inner strength, healing, increasing self-love, and wholeness within themselves to thrive in a chaotic world, as well as embrace the best version of themselves.
My goals for you
I partner with clients to answer the question "Based on what you have mentioned to me about your concerns what will be different in your life when our healing work has ended?" I encourage input from clients to identify their goals in their own words and goals are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-sensitive).
My first session with you
Your first session is a collaborative conversation for me to gain an understanding of how I can best assist you, while setting the foundation for us to build a therapeutic partnership as I walk with you on your healing journey. Also, for us to identify the "goal" of our time the work we will accomplish together.
