I am Samantha Coppola, a clinically licensed social worker in Virginia with 10 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, trauma and abuse, & motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
My approach
I describe my therapeutic approach as eclectic, as I strive to meet each person where they are. I commonly utilize a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), client-centered therapy, and trauma-informed approaches.
My focus
I am experienced in working with adults (18+) in an outpatient setting. I have worked with individuals on a variety of treatment goals; from improving communication with their partner or in a workplace setting, learning distress tolerance skills, challenging unhelpful thinking patterns, reducing symptoms of depression, and addressing substance misuse.
My communication style
I hope to foster an environment of trust and open communication, built upon mutual respect for each other. I provide transparent expectations to ensure clients are well-informed and feel safe to openly share.
