I have been a clinical social worker since 1997. I use an eclectic approach, using a strengths-based approach, trauma-informed, drawing from strategies from cognitive behavioral, motivational interviewing, and DBT. I have experience in private practice, hospice, child and family settings, and integrated health care.
My approach
I utilize a strength-based approach, drawing from the patient's existing strengths and resilience. I use modalities associated with cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I specialize in grief, bereavement, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I encourage my patients to develop their goals for wellness.
My focus
Better coping with anxiety, and depression, increased insight and resolution to their trauma. Assistance in navigating grief through increased acceptance and integration of their grief experience, addressing better interpersonal relationships, and coping with life stressors.
My communication style
My style is supportive and calm, with active & reflective listening. I like to provide feedback and insight.
My goals for you
Success looks like my patients reaching their personal goals for wellness, increasing practical strategies for coping with identified problems or stressors, increased self-acceptance, and resilience.
My first session with you
The first session will be an opportunity to establish a rapport, acquire presenting reasons for coming to therapy, and possibly focus on their initial goals. My patients can ask questions of this therapist to establish if I am a good match for their clinical needs. We will address issues of confidentiality, their understanding and acceptance of telehealth services, and their current crisis status.
