Hi there, I'm Rebecca!

Welcome! I'm Rebecca Perkins, a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about helping others take the first steps towards making changes to feel more empowered and experience healing in their lives.

My approach

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling life as well as to take the first steps towards making a change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. My approach is client-centered, utilizing Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I strive to empower individuals to make progress towards their individualized goals. I am a strong believer that mental health symptoms are not defining of the individual and can be managed through evidence- and strength-based therapy modalities. Seeking therapy can feel scary, but it is a safe place to heal and grow. In our sessions together, you'll be met with compassion, kindness, and evidence-based practices to overcome the challenges you want to change.

My focus

I work with individuals who experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, ADHD, stress, and life transitions. I help individuals to navigate these situations as well as form new strategies to cope with symptoms and empower them to have more control over their lives. When one feels in control of their life, they no longer feel controlled by symptoms.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, genuine, interactive, calm, and friendly. I often use humor in sessions to help individuals feel comfortable. I want individuals who work with me to feel as though we can discuss anything comfortably. I actively work in therapy sessions to meet your specific needs and help you arrive at insights. We will work together to implement strategies and tools you can begin using immediately.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a therapist because I enjoy working with others. As a volunteer, hearing others' journeys provided me the opportunity to further appreciate the resilience and growth individuals can make in their own lives. As a therapist, working with individuals to support them in achieving their goals has been very rewarding.

My goals for you

I believe it is important for myself and the individual to work together to form goals the individual wants to achieve in therapy. As therapy progresses, we will work together to track the progress of the goals and re-evaluate as needed.

My first session with you

Every individual has a unique story and deserves an individual approach to treatment. In our first session, I want to hear your story, hear how you are feeling, and hear about your thoughts. The individual can expect me to ask questions to gain a better understanding of them. Our first session is important because it is our first connection, the beginning of our relationship, and the starting point for the goals the individual would like to develop.
