I am Theresa Thomas, a licensed professional therapist. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families seeking counseling for over 10 years, both online and in my private practice treating clients dealing with stress, anxiety, grief, parenting issues, depression, and coping with life changes.
My approach
My clinical approaches include Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.
My focus
Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started! I treat clients dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder.
My communication style
Clients see me as a therapeutic guide. I coach my clients on how to implement cognitive behavioral techniques in their day-to-day lives to help them create a new pattern of thinking. Helping clients explore their negative thoughts and how those thoughts create discouraging outcomes.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have a master's degree in counseling from Webster University. I am an empty nester with an adult son who inspires me to change the world one person at a time each day I wake up. I have two active cats who love cuddles and belly rubs. I enjoy watching HGTV, hiking, and spending quality time with my significant other, family, and friends.
My goals for you
I find that technology can complement therapy. I integrate digital assignments into my treatment with clients by assigning lessons and exercises between scheduled sessions.
My first session with you
I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialogue and therapy sessions to meet your unique and specific needs.
