Hello, my name is Mindy Eaves and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia and West Virginia. Additionally, I am a level two Certified Complex Trauma Provider (CCTP-II). I work with adults, individuals, couples, and families that have or had experienced adverse childhood experiences (abuse, neglect, etc.), a traumatic event, or events.
My approach
I use a combination of trauma-focus modalities. Psychoeducation, Sensimotor, Internal family systems, and mindfulness are strongly used in combination with others. I do not have clients walk me through the details of their trauma. I focus on working with clients to identify triggers and reduce the intensity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.
My focus
I work with clients, couples, and families where one or more persons in the household have experienced adverse childhood events, abuse, work-related trauma, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, anxiety, panic, depression, PTSD, CPTSD, phobias, and relationship issues.
My communication style
I really like our sessions to feel more like you are talking to a friend. I do my best to create a safe, comfortable, nonjudgemental environment. I like to approach clients' symptoms with curiosity as we explore and learn more about the client, together.
My journey to mental healthcare
Being a trauma survivor myself it has really been my goal to have pain with purpose. I feel honored to be included in the healing journey with other survivors like myself.
My goals for you
The ultimate goal is for clients and their families to learn more about the effects trauma has on the body, triggers, and to reduce the frequency, intensity, and duration of symptoms. Clients are active participants in goal setting.
My first session with you
The first few sessions are really getting to know each other and seeing if we are a good fit to work together.
