Hi! My name is Aneta Piasecki, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Virginia and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and couples and specialize in military, cultural/ethnicities, marital issues, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
My approach
My approach to therapy is a unique, individualized, and evidenced-based clinical experience. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT), Emotionally focused therapy ( EFT), and Motivational Interviewing.
My focus
I mostly work with adults, adolescents ages 14+, and couples. I have experience with a broad spectrum of mental health issues and life transitions, including severe anxiety, panic attacks, GAD, depression, and PTSD. I also have worked with clients from many different cultures, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. I have worked with couples in a military setting providing couples counseling.
My communication style
I am a compassionate, authentic, and non-judgmental clinician who empowers clients to change. My therapeutic style is energetic, active, and at times straightforward. Working with clients in a collaborative approach and always putting the client first.
My journey to mental healthcare
I'm a genuine and compassionate person who enjoys helping people who feel stuck in life and who are suffering emotionally. What initially attracted me to this career was growing up in a first-generation immigrant family. I have experienced all the hardships and joys of acculturation.
My goals for you
Goal setting is an important aspect of the overall therapy process. It is up to the client to guide me on what particular goal or problem they want to resolve during therapy. I always start where the client is in the change process.
My first session with you
During the first session in therapy, I perform a psycho-social assessment. This provides me with background history about the client; that way, I can tailor the best, most beneficial therapy approach for the client. In addition, I actively listen to what the client is seeking from therapy and work with the client in a collaborative manner.
