Hi there, I'm Alvin!

My name is A. Chad Ray, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) from the Volunteer state of Tennessee. I am licensed in both VA and TN and see clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults who have issues with anxiety, stress, addiction, and insomnia. When helping clients achieve their clinical goals, I utilize Solution Oriented Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systems Therapy, Emotion Focused, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

My approach

My approach to therapy is holistic and tailored to fit each individual client’s goals in treatment. Primarily, I use Solution Oriented Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systems Therapy, Emotion Focused, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have integrated these therapeutic approaches to help clients address their clinical goals. Each client is unique, therefore needing evidence-based treatment options tailored to them.

My focus

I have found my clinical style and approach are a fantastic fit for working with adults who struggle with anxiety, stress, addiction, and insomnia. My goal is to help clients develop clearly defined goals and make lasting progress in their daily lives.

My communication style

My communication style is calm, centered, and curious. I want each client to understand I have not only listened to them with respect but have also understood their problems.

My journey to mental healthcare

I decided to become a therapist because I enjoy helping and understanding others. I have always been curious about why people behave and think the way they do. I also greatly enjoy helping people problem solve and find solutions to their problems.

My goals for you

My approach to setting goals with each client is about developing a plan that respects the individual’s uniqueness and autonomy. Goals will be reviewed periodically with each client to ensure we are still on target or to re-evaluate if the client’s goals have changed.

My first session with you

During our first session, you will be listened to in a nonjudgmental manner. We will process what has brought you into therapy and what you hope to gain from it. My desire is to develop a safe environment where you will easily be able to explore your clinical goals.
