Krystal Scott

Hi, I am Krystal Scott, LCSW in the state of VA. I use a variety of approaches combined based on the individual's needs. The focus area of practice is working with adults and the elderly that suffer from mental illness and/or addiction.

My approach

My approach to providing therapy is by beginning with where the individual is. I like to initially gather as much information by providing active listening and reflection. The most common approaches that I use are cognitive behavioral and solution-focused.

My focus

The types of clients I typically work with are adults typically 25 and up along with the geriatric populations. Most of the individuals suffer from past traumas, day-to-day life stressors, addictions, and unstable persistent mental illnesses.

My communication style

My communication style is mellow. I try to provide a safe space for effective communication and honesty. I provide a judgment-free zone, where the individual can freely share thoughts and ideas. I also don't want it to be too heavy and serious so I mix it up throughout the session when needed with humor. I feel that it is important for clients to be heard.
