I am a Doctor of Clinical Social Work specializing in trauma and addictions counseling. With experience treating a wide range of populations including women, children, couples, and families, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care.
My approach
My therapeutic approach draws from various modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Exposure Response Prevention, Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Group Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Strength-Based approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I tailor my approach to best fit the unique needs of each individual client.
My focus
I work with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents ages 13-17. My areas of specialty include addiction, anxiety, bipolar disorder, career counseling, borderline personality disorder, depression, gender identity, adoption, drug abuse, dual diagnosis, dissociative disorders, LGBTQIA+ issues, life coaching, mood disorders, panic attacks, anger management, relapse prevention, personality disorders, Alzheimer's, family conflict, and grief.
My communication style
I aim to create a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel safe to openly share your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Through active listening and collaborative dialogue, we will work together to help you gain new insights, develop coping skills, and create positive changes in your life.
My journey to mental healthcare
Prior to becoming a therapist, I served in the military, an experience that inspired me to pursue a career supporting others' mental health and wellbeing. This led me to obtain my Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) from the University of Tennessee. My military background has enabled me to connect especially well with veterans.
My goals for you
My ultimate goal is to empower you with the self-awareness and tools to overcome challenges, heal from past wounds, and live a more fulfilling life. I will support you in building upon your inherent strengths, improving your relationships, and developing a stronger sense of self.
My first session with you
In our first session, I strive to establish a genuine connection, offering you my undivided attention and a compassionate ear. We will discuss what brings you to therapy and begin to identify your unique goals. This session also provides an opportunity for you to determine if we are a good fit to continue working together.
