Hi there, I'm Ronald!

Hello! My name is Ronald Fernandes, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in California, working with clients via telehealth. My approach to therapy is characterized by a person-centered and holistic perspective, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their emotions and challenges. My focus areas of practice encompass anxiety and stress management, trauma recovery, and promoting self-esteem and personal growth, utilizing evidence-based techniques tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.

My approach

My approach to providing therapy is rooted in an integrative framework, drawing from various theoretical approaches to best meet the needs of my clients. I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and collaboration. The most common theoretical approaches I use include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and person-centered therapy. These approaches allow me to address a wide range of mental health concerns and tailor my interventions to the unique needs of each individual.

My focus

I typically work with a diverse range of clients, including individuals, couples, and families. I am comfortable treating a variety of mental health conditions, including but not limited to anxiety disorders, depression, trauma-related issues, relationship difficulties, and self-esteem concerns. Additionally, I have experience working with clients from different cultural backgrounds, age groups, and identities, and I strive to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all individuals seeking support.

My communication style

I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for my clients during our therapy sessions. I aim to foster a sense of safety and trust, allowing clients to feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their emotions. Working with me, clients can expect a collaborative and empathetic approach where their unique experiences and perspectives are valued and respected. I encourage open dialogue and active listening and provide guidance and feedback to help clients navigate their challenges and facilitate personal growth.

My goals for you

I approach goal-setting with clients through a collaborative and client-centered process. I believe that clients are the experts of their own lives, and their goals should reflect their personal aspirations and desires. During therapy, I engage in active discussions to understand their needs, values, and long-term objectives. Together, we work towards setting realistic, measurable, and achievable goals that are specific to their unique circumstances. Regular check-ins and adjustments are made as needed to ensure that the goals remain relevant and meaningful throughout the therapeutic journey.

My first session with you

During a first session with me, clients can expect a welcoming and confidential environment where they have the opportunity to share their concerns, experiences, and goals. I will actively listen to their story, ask questions to gain a deeper understanding, and collaboratively establish a therapeutic relationship. We will discuss the reasons for seeking therapy and any relevant background information and explore potential areas of focus for future sessions. I will also explain the therapeutic process, address any questions or concerns, and ensure that clients feel comfortable and supported throughout the session.
